TO:                     ALL STUDENTS TAKING BIOLOGY STUDY-UNITS

SUBJECT:          Course Work/Assignments Use of Laptops and other devices

DATE:                 11th April 2008

Handing in of coursework (written assignment/ practical reports) by students
  • Students are required to hand in any written assignments and practical reports to the departmental secretary by posting such material in a deposit box to be located outside the departmental office.
  • Students are required to fill in a Special Information Form and attach it to each written assignment/practical report. This form may be downloaded from our website, and limited copies are available from the departmental office.
  • At the end of each day, the departmental secretary will be collecting any coursework submitted and will be recording the date of its submission.

Returning of corrected coursework
   
  • Students are required to collect corrected assignments from the office of the respective tutors during the hours as specified by such tutors.
  • Corrected practical reports are to be returned to students by the respective demonstrators.
  • For reports of practical work scheduled at the end of a series of practicals students are to collect reports from the tutors.

Use of Laptop PC and other devices

  • Students who would like to make use of their laptop computers and / or voice/visual recording devices during lecturers or during any other class, will need to obtain prior permission from the respective lecturer or tutor or demonstrator.
  • Even if such permission may be granted, students are to ensure that the use of such devices will not disrupt lectures or any other classes, or disturb the lecturer or other students, in any way.
  • Only battery operated devices will be allowed and no device may be plugged into the mains electricity supply during a lecture. In the case of a practical class, such devices may be plugged into the mains electricity supply of the laboratory if prior permission is obtained from the demonstrator.

These regulations are to come in force as from Monday 14th April 2008.
