The Department is responsible for all degrees in both Archaeology and Classics. The Department of Classics was one of the longest established departments of the Faculty of Arts; in 1988 its remit was extended to include Archaeology and, to date, all professional posts involving the archaeological heritage in various Maltese government and parastatal bodies are occupied by graduates of this department. The department maintains a highly respectable international profile. Its academic members regularly participate in international conferences and publish their research in academic journals and books.

Dr Anthony T Luttrell's visit

Dr Anthony T. Luttrell will be in Malta as the guest of the History Department of the University of Malta.

Dr Luttrell will be giving a public lecture on ‘Hospitaller Rhodes: The Background to the Maltese Order State’.  This will be held on Wednesday 19 November 2008 at 7.00 p.m. at Sala Isouard, Manoel Theatre,Valletta.

The general public is invited to attend.
