Jean Monnet Seminar Series 2001-2006 

1st JEAN MONNET SEMINAR
The seminar was on the theme “A Constitution for the European Union?”
The speaker was Dr Ugo Mifsud Bonnici, President Emeritus
The seminar took place at the Radisson SAS Baypoint, St George's Bay, on Wednesday, 12th December 2001 at 1800. 

2nd JEAN MONNET SEMINAR
The seminar was on the theme “Constitutional Reform in the EU and Member States post Laeken”
The speaker was Prof. Peter G Xuereb, Chairman of EDRC and President of MESA.
The seminar took place at the Clermont Room of the Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort, St George’s Bay, St Julians on Thursday, 17th January 2002 at 1800. 

3rd JEAN MONNET SEMINAR
The seminar was on the theme “Identity and the Politics of Europe”
The speaker was Mr Ranier Fsadni.
The seminar took place at the Clermont Room of the Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort, St George’s Bay, St Julians, on Wednesday, 20th February 2002 at 1745. 

4th JEAN MONNET SEMINAR
The seminar was on the theme “National Identities”
The speakers were Prof. Oliver Friggieri and Professor Henry Frendo. ‘L-Identità Nazzjonali Maltija fil Kuntest Ewro-Mediterran’ – Prof. Oliver Friggieri and  ‘L-Identità Ewropea: Tezisti?’ – Prof. Henry Frendo.The seminar took place in the Reading Room, Radisson SAS Bay Point Resort, St George’s Bay, St Julians, on Thursday, 21st March 2002 at 1800. 

5th JEAN MONNET SEMINAR 
After the ‘formal’ conference on 25th April, our overseas speakers participated in a special Jean Monnet seminar for MESA members on Friday, 26th April 2002, at 1700 at the Mediterranean Academy for Diplomatic Studies at the University of Malta. This gave members the opportunity to meet the speakers. The speakers were: Prof. Rosa Greaves, Prof. Jo Shaw, Prof. Marc Maresceau, Prof. Helen Wallace and Mr Auke Haagsma

6th JEAN MONNET SEMINAR

21st JEAN MONNET SEMINAR 
The seminar was on the "Community Competence in Criminal Matters – From Case 82/71 to Case C-176/03 Commission vs Council"
The speaker was Mr Justice Anthony E. Borg Barthet currently a Judge at the European Court of Justice (ECJ).

22nd JEAN MONNET SEMINAR 
The seminar was on the “Adventures in Screening and Transposition A Case Study: the EU Consumer Protection Acquis (1990-2004)”

23rd JEAN MONNET SEMINAR

  24th JEAN MONNET SEMINAR 
Dr Antoine Cremona, Lecturer of Arbitration and Lawyer presented a paper on: Analysing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Mechanism in Europe and EU Activity in the Field: The Communitarisation of Private Justice.  The Seminar was held on 1st June 2006 at 1730, at the Reading Room, The Radisson SAS Baypoint Resort, St George's Bay, St Julians.

  25th JEAN MONNET SEMINAR
Mr Michael Cohen, Mayor of Kalkara; Vice-President of the Local Councils Association (Malta); CoR DEVE Commission PES Group Coordinator; and CoR Rapporteur on the Thematic Strategy and Draft Directive on the European Marine Environment presented a paper on: The Thematic Strategy on the Protection and Conservation of the Marine Environment and the Marine Strategy Directive: A Local and Regional Perspective. The seminar was held on Tuesday 20th June 2006 at 1730 at the Reading Room, Radisson SAS Baypoint Resort, St George's Bay, St Julians
