The Department of Economics froms part of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy (FEMA) of the University of Malta. The Department offers courses leading to the degree of Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) with a specialism in Economics, Master of Arts in Economics and Master of Arts in Economics of Competition Law. The Department also collaborates with other departments within FEMA as well as with other faculties by offering Economics study-units.
There are seven full-time members of staff of which two are full professors, one senior lecturer, one lecturers and three assistant lecturers. These are complemented by a number of visiting, and part-time lecturers. Lecturers undertake research in diverse areas, and contribute regularly to conference programmes and workshops organised by the Islands and Small States Institute of the University's Foundation for International Studies.
