Dr G. Cordina

Dr Gordon Cordina is an Assistant Lecturer in Resource Economics. His main research areas are economic modelling of small economies, economic convergence and welfare reform. Teaching areas include advanced microeconomics, econometrics and time series analysis, microfoundations of macroeconomics. He graduated B.A. (Hons) Economics (University of Malta) and M.Phil Economics (Cambridge). He worked as an economist at the Central Bank of Malta and later was head of the Research Department. He is the department's representative on the Faculty Board. His consulting activities undertaken with institutions include Central Bank of Malta, Malta Government, Welfare Reform Commission, Planning Authority, EU Commission (in conjunction with foreign consultants). Dr Cordina is Director General of the National Statistics Office.

His major publications are:  

  • An Econometric Model of the Maltese Economy, Economic and Financial Modelling Journal, The European Economics and Financial Centre, London, Autumn 1998.
