Weather Data as Recorded at the Institute for
Energy Technology, Marsaxlokk, Malta

SOLAR RADIATION

At the moment the Institute has 5 different solar radiation data-bases ranging between 5 and 11 years. The readings of the silicon cell-based pyranometers are relevant to solar photovoltaic systems, while the thermopile pyranometer readings suit solar thermal applications. The diffuse radiation is particularly important for solar tracking applications which are more affected by clouds.

OTHER WEATHER DATA:

Ambient temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed and direction, wind gusts, temperature attained by solar photovoltaic modules under operating conditions are also available.

Wind measurements at different sites in Malta and Gozo are also available for different durations ranging between 6 months and 11 years.

The Institute provides analysis and other services based on the data available of 10-minutes, 1-hour and daily intervals at agreed prices. The Institute also offers consultancy services in design of solar and wind applications, thermal comfort in buildings and energy conservation.
