Basic Course in Apiculture

  Aim: The aim of the course is to introduce the participants to a basic knowledge of the honey bee, beekeeping management and bee products.

Offering: Summer Period (Commencing 31st May 2006)

ourse Duration: 2-hour lectures, held once weekly for a total of 30 hours (Wednesdays 18.00 - 20.00 hrs

Requirements: Open to interested persons over 16 years of age.

Language of Instruction: Maltese (Technical terms in English)

Lecturer:

Mr. Melvin Magri

B.Ed. HONS. Biology; Post-graduate Certificate in Beekeeping Technology - Cert. Bee. Tech. (UK); Apiculture Expert Certificate (Italy); Head of Apiculture Section since 2002; Published various beekeeping articles in ‘Biedja w Sajd’; Organised various radio programmes on beekeeping; Judging of Honey in fairs.

Minimum Number of Participants: 25

Maximum Number of Participants:  35 per class

Provision: Applicants are accepted on a first come first served basis.

Award: Certificate of Attendance (attendance to miniumum of 12 lectures and practical session obligatory)

Cost: Lm 26 (including tuition and teaching materials)
