Some students will require a visa to enter Malta. Information concerning visas may be obtained from:  http://www.foreign.gov.mt. 
Selected candidates should lose no time in applying for a visa to enter Malta as well as for a Schengen visa to enter European countries (for second semester research). 

Students should obtain an appropriate health insurance to cover them for the whole year (the Maltese government provides free emergency treatment to students but routine visits are billed).
