Objectives The Mediterranean poses various challenges to Human Rights Charters. Inadequacies are exposed in a region marked by cultural diversity and economic inequality. A new approach is needed to address the mismatch between the formal institutional uniformity evoked by human rights instruments and the realities at the grass roots level. The Mediterranean Journal of Human Rights is a response to these challenges.
An interdisciplinary forum, the journal explores the interrelationships
between Human Rights Charters and the social contexts within which they
are implemented. Drawing on abroad academic landscape, the journal aims
