THE MEDITERRANEAN JOURNAL OF HUMAN RIGHTS

Objectives

The Mediterranean poses various challenges to Human Rights Charters.  Inadequacies are exposed in a region marked by cultural diversity and economic inequality. A new approach is needed to address the mismatch between the formal institutional uniformity evoked by human rights instruments and the realities at the grass roots level.

The Mediterranean Journal of Human Rights is a response to these challenges. An interdisciplinary forum, the journal explores the interrelationships between Human Rights Charters and the social contexts within which they are implemented. Drawing on abroad academic landscape, the journal aims to encourage debate on the future restructuring of Human Rights Law to engage
with regional problems.
