Linguistics is the scientific study of language. Since this is one of the distinguishing characteristics of human beings, the ultimate aim of linguistics is to shed light on human behaviour and cognition. At the Institute, we focus our research on several areas, many of which have a distinctively cross-disciplinary flavour, interfacing with disciplines such as Psychology and Artificial Intelligence. We also offer degree programmes in Linguistics at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
