The Joe Cremona Language Centre

  The Joe Cremona Language Centre comprises a seminar room (CCT 404A) and two state-of-the-art, multi-role e-classrooms equipped with a total of 36 networked PCs connected to a dedicated server.

The e-classrooms house the Writing Studio (CCT 404) and the Language Studio (CCT 403).

 

 

The Language Studio

An integral part of the Joe Cremona Language Centre, the Language
Studio is equipped with 19 student workstations, including one configured for students with special needs, one tutor workstation with DVD-playing capability, a data projector, a printer and a scanner. ReLANpro software provides classroom management, student monitoring and individual listening and recording functions. General applications include Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer. Current course materials focus primarily, but not exclusively, on the use of spoken and written English for Academic Purposes and include, audio, AV and book formats. The Language Studio is a versatile resource that can be used for PC-based assessment as well as language-specific learning.

 

The Writing Studio

The Writing Studio is one of two computer-based laboratories in the Joe Cremona Language Centre at the Institute of Linguistics. It became functional in October 2006 as a Writing Studio for courses in academic writing and related activities. It is equipped with state-of-the-art software as well as general-purpose software such as Microsoft Office and Internet facilities. The Studio houses 16 units including one reserved for the tutor. It is currently being equipped with a resource library of reference books related to academic writing, which is available for use during lectures.
