Malta is an island in the Mediterranean
with a population of circa 360,000 inhabitants. Two main languages are spoken
in Malta - Maltese (which is of semitic origin with a number of romance influences)
and English. .
There is one university, The
University of Malta, which, tracing back its origins to 1592, is
one of the oldest in the Mediterranean basin.
