Eumeness - A Multilateral Network incorporated within the International Institute for the Social Sciences
The unprecedented events in Europe in the past few years resulted in the normalization of social science contacts between various countries of the East and West. These events have ushered in the demand for a new institutional framework for social science cooperation with focusing on North-South relations to create a new multilateral configuration for cooperation in the social sciences in Europe and beyond.The International Institute for the Social Science (IISS) works in close collaboration with its coordinated body, EUMENESS, the European and Mediterranean Network of the Social Sciences. EUMENESS is the first offspring of the former European Coordination Centre for Research and Documentation in the Social Sciences (ie the Vienna Centre) of UNESCO.
The aim of the IISS and EUMENESS is to explore new forms of social Conservation for the cross fertilization of differing worlds, priorities and agendas in Europe and the Mediterranean. The emphasis is on the development of creative energies for the fearless exchange of conversation and the sharing of social and cultural narratives concerning North/South perspectives of gender, race, religion, the environment, future generations and the future of the world.
