To encourage the development of ideas, research projects and programmes which cut across present organizational boundaries within the social sciences;

To provide central services for all those engaged in social
sciences research;

|
To generate and support research and training initiatives in the
social sciences under the following headings; social development, peace and conflict resolution, culture ,and development, multi-lateralism and North-South relations;

To adopt an interdisciplinary approach encouraging and extending
useful working relationships with scholars and organizations on a global, regional and local level;
|
|
To train target groups on issues related to global responsibilities and human welfare;
|
|
To organize interdisciplinary conferences, seminars and workshops
and to publish its research findings;
|
|
To run diploma courses, particularly for overseas students in
collaboration with the University of Malta and other international institutions.
